Accessibility Policy

At Nelson’s Distillery and School, we are committed to minimising our environmental impact and promoting sustainability in all our operations. This policy applies to all our activities, services, and stakeholders, including employees, clients, and suppliers. Sustainability is an integral part of our strategy as we work towards our company vision.

Principles

We recognise the critical importance of protecting the environment and are committed to:

  • Complying with all relevant environmental legislation, regulations, and codes of practice.
  • Continuously reviewing and assessing our environmental impact, seeking opportunities for improvement.
  • Encouraging our key suppliers to adopt environmentally friendly practices through our procurement policies.
  • Providing necessary training to our staff to raise awareness about the importance of environmental protection.
  • Reducing our consumption of resources such as energy, fuel, water, and paper, and minimising waste wherever possible.

Practical Steps

We aim to translate these principles into action through practical initiatives, including:

Paper Usage: Encouraging two-sided printing and black-and-white printing where feasible, adopting paperless processes where possible, and ensuring all paper waste is recycled. We also procure recycled paper from our suppliers.

Waste Management: Ensuring that all waste is separated at source for recycling.

Energy Usage: Turning off lights and equipment when not in use, replacing inefficient bulbs with low-energy LED lighting, lowering thermostat settings, and procuring only essential equipment to meet business needs.

Water Usage: Ensuring taps are turned off when not in use and implementing water-saving systems in our facilities.

Fuel Usage: Minimising business travel and using alternatives like video calls. When travel is necessary, we prioritize public transport over private vehicles where feasible.

Procurement: Continuously assessing the environmental credentials of our suppliers as part of our procurement processes.

Environmental Performance: Establishing a program of continual improvement by monitoring our performance against key sustainability indicators.

Supply Chain: Regularly reviewing and encouraging improvements in environmental performance with our suppliers and clients.

By adhering to these principles and taking practical steps, we aim to minimise our environmental footprint and contribute to a more sustainable future.
