The NHS and its workers will literally be the toast of the nation after a gin distillery announced plans to create a new drink and donate £10 from the sale of every bottle to the organisation.
Nelson’s Distillery and School, based in Uttoxeter, Staffordshire, has announced that it is now distilling a Limited Edition Charity Gin, to celebrate, thank and raise funds for the NHS and its workers helping in the battle against COVID-19.
In tribute to the NHS, the gin will be blue in colour and will give recognition on its packaging. The distillery will donate £10 per sale of the craft gin to the NHS.
It will be available to order on Nelson’s website: www.nelsonsdistillery.co.uk.
The pledge came quickly after Nelson’s Distillery announced that it was producing hand sanitisers and delivering them to the most vulnerable.
Nelson’s founder Neil Harrison, who draws on his years of expertise as a chef to develop exclusive and award-winning artisan spirits, said: “It’s a time for communities and businesses to come together and we’re proud to be supporting the NHS.”
“We wanted to do something to celebrate the true heroes who are battling day in, day out in our hospitals and other medical institutions to limit the devastating impact of COVID-19.”
“In celebration of all those incredible people who are saving lives whilst putting theirs at risk every day, the gin will be blue in colour and will be packaged recognising the NHS.”
“It will be a blend of our classic London Dry recipe, with key botanicals such as the Taiwanese Blue Pea Flower to add a unique twist.”
“Hopefully our donations will go a very small way towards helping the NHS and its workers through the current situation.”
