Nelson’s Exciting Reopening Recap: 3 Influencer Days Across 3 Hotel Gin Schools!

It’s been a truly incredible reopening week for Nelson’s Gin & Vodka Schools!

To start with a bang, we held influencer events across our hotel locations in Hilton Leeds City, Clayton Hotel Manchester and Clayton Hotel Birmingham.

For our very first class with the hotel, we were delighted to open Nelson’s doors to Becky Yates, Sarah Lightowler, Sophie Detraux, Zara Mattison and their accompanying guests.

The Yorkshire Evening Post also joined us to share in the excitement and spread the word of Nelson’s arrival in Leeds City! 

Hosted by Head Gin & Vodka School Presenter, David Hunter and trusty sidekick, Paul Hickman, guests were treated to an in-depth introduction into the wonderful world of distilling and educated in the rich history of gin. Whilst, of course, getting to make their very own!

Our attendees captured some truly gorgeous moments while blending and distilling to share with their curious followers.

An equally instagrammable lunch was prepared by the Hilton Leeds City. Catering to all dietary requirements and preferences, the hotel staff went above and beyond to ensure a memorably delicious experience for everyone.

Seizing the day, was an overriding theme of floral and fruity gins, with most leaning towards light and delicate flavours. Keeping with the trend, Nelson’s Rhubarb & Custard Gin reigned as the day’s crowd favourite, among our London Dry and Timur. 

The second-ever Manchester class to run after last summer’s Heroes Gin & Vodka School. Nelson’s previously hosted a free day for several keyworkers, in recognition and celebration of all their hard work during the pandemic. 

Back in the vibrant city of Manchester, and on the grounds of the airport, the event’s location evoked a sense of travel and adventure. A nice taste of escape after months in lockdown!

Hosted in a private room with on-call service, The Clayton went the extra mile with name places and thoughtful menu choices, with all dietary requirements kept in mind. This included a fabulous two-course lunch, with three options for main and dessert, and even gluten-free biscuits!

Accompanied by their guests, local gin enthusiasts and food/drink influencers Silvia Okuonghae, Roshni Latham, Karen Hasid, Fiona Wolstenholme and Robbie Atkinson were invited to vlog and photograph exceptional highlights of their day with us.

Manchester’s Gin & Vodka School Presenter, the highly charismatic and extremely chatty Gabi Wilson was assisted by David Hunter. With this duo, it was easily a fun-filled, laughter-guaranteed day of gin learning, drinking and making.  

This time around, no two gins resembled the next – swaying from deep, smoky blends to lighter, floral-earthy tones. The overall winning Nelson’s flavour of the day was our Timur!

The Clayton Hotel Birmingham was the very first of our three, new hotel partners to open, and also the only one to officially run classes to the public during a very uncertain 2020.

Back to what he does best, Tashon, Nelson’s Gin & Vodka School Presenter by day and mixologist by night – delivered a spectacular distilling experience to Birmingham-based influencers and bloggers Olivia Bayley, Sophie Howell, Dips, Rajiv Findlay, Gemma Morris and their lovely guests.

With the assistance of David, the pair presented an exceptionally informative talk on the history and progression of gin throughout the ages. Using their combined expert experience and knowledge, guests were armed with the confidence to design unique gin recipes whilst being carefully guided along the distilling process.

The day was fired up with questions, tremendous engagement, and resulted in having both David and Tashon speak on camera for socials and blogs.

For a well-deserved lunch, a vibrant afternoon tea buffet was prepared, catering to those with dietary requirements. This tasteful day was also filmed and photographed by Chalkboard Creative.

The resulting recipes painted quite a spectrum, but with a general theme of smooth, fruity flavours and pink peppercorn as the pepper of choice. This crowd’s favourite Nelson’s Gin was the London Dry No.7!

All the day’s excitement came to a gradual close with one-on-one influencer interviews, for some final words on their experience at Nelson’s Gin & Vodka School.

After a long hiatus, Nelson’s could not be happier to meet and welcome gin lovers back for more delicious discoveries and daring flavour explorations together.

Nelson’s Gin & Vodka Schools Now Open to Public!

It’s time to get renewing your GIN memberships!

Nelson’s Distillery & School is officially back open to the public.

After what feels like a lifetime ago since our last distilling class, we are over the moon and so very grateful to be able to welcome you back once again. 

Of course we are not back to complete normality just yet. That means there are still a few rules and regulation in place regarding Coronavirus. 

As we all know, to keep everybody safe we have to track and trace.
We ask that all who enter our Schools, at any location please scan the NHS Track and Trace QR code. Or alternatively fill out their details on a written document. This will be provided by the premises you are entering.  

Secondly, masks. They’re not everybody’s cup of tea or G&T but they’re essential to stopping the spread of Covid. We ask that you wear masks on entering any of the premises and when walking around. When sat at your distilling station you may remove the mask. 

Class capacity has been reduce to accommodate for social distancing. Distilling stations will be distanced at the new 1 metre plus rule. The exact distance of stations depends on the location of your school. Groups of no more than 6 who enter together may sit together. 

Hand sanitisation stations will be located around all Gin & Vodka School locations, please use regularly. 

Lastly but most importantly. Please do not visit us if you have symptoms of Covid-19, or have been told to self-isolate. You will not lose your experience, we will simply rebook you on at a later date.
